2.30 – 3.00 pm.
From half past two, the after-school care centre starts to fill up with a lively atmosphere. The children come from various schools. Depending on which school they attend, we collect your child from school on foot, by bike or by the after-school care bus. Older children come to the after-school care on their own. We greet the children. ‘How was your day? What was fun, what was challenging?’ We like to have a quick chat so we know how each child is feeling when they arrive. Everyone is usually here between 3.00 and 3.30 pm.
3.00 – 3.30 pm.
After school, any children who need to, can burn off some energy for a bit. They can chill out with friends, let off steam or play football. Time for a snack! Together with the children who want to help, we put together a platter full of healthy snacks. Sometimes we set up a cosy after-school care buffet. Then the children can help themselves to something tasty and healthy. Meanwhile, we catch up on the school day or have a nice chat with the whole group. After snack time, we tidy up together. This routine helps the children settle down for a moment before they go back to playing.
3.30 – 4.00 pm.
There is always plenty to choose from among our fun activities. These can be anything: arts and crafts, cooking, a sports game, making music or doing something outdoors in nature. We also work with themes from our activities calendar. For example, we go on a taste adventure and try new flavours, we do experiments, cook together, play games or create art that fits the theme. Just want to play freely? That is fine too, of course! Building, drawing, playing games with friends or having a great time running about outdoors – anything goes. We will send you a message or photo via our app to show you what your child is getting up to.
4.00 - 5.00 pm.
We play outside every day! What could be better than rounding off the day together outdoors? In the playground, we play football, have relay races, build dens or go on a discovery tour in the nature garden. We also love playing with ‘loose parts’: the children create the most amazing structures out of bamboo sticks, rugs and tree trunks. Indoors, children can choose what they want to do: in the building corner, the craft corner, playing games or reading quietly on the sofa. The older children also enjoy helping to come up with ideas for activities: “What shall we do tomorrow?”.
No two days are the same
This article gives you a general idea, as every after-school care is different and no two days at Partou are the same. We always assess what the children need after a busy day at school: a chance to wind down, let off some steam, or have a chat. Every afternoon is slightly different. During school holidays or on teacher training days, we have the whole day to get creative with fun activities. Check the parent app or ask the location manager for the latest (holiday) programme at your child’s after-school care centre!
Ready for the future
For 50 years, we have been encouraging children to grow through play. At our after-school care centre, they discover their interests and talents, learn to work together and make choices, and are given the space to be themselves. In this way, every child grows at their own pace, ready for the world of tomorrow!
