Learning methods
Our future professionals are either apprentices (beroepskrachten in opleiding (bbl)) or vocational school interns (bol). An apprentice learns by gaining experience in practice. A vocational school student acquires knowledge through theoretical learning and also undertakes internships with us.
Always under supervision
Future professionals always work under the guidance and supervision of a qualified pedagogical employee, who provides on-the-job feedback. Additionally, each future professional has a work supervisor, an experienced colleague who has undergone internal training. Together, they evaluate the internship and make agreements about tasks and responsibilities for the upcoming period. Moreover, the future professional is given the opportunity to complete assignments from their education at the childcare location, which may sometimes be observed on the group.
Variation based on education
Our work-based learning policy (also known as our beroepspraktijkvorming or bpv-policy) outlines how we handle the responsibilities of future professionals. This varies depending on the education level (vocational training in childcare level 3 or 4, or vocational training in assistance in healthcare and welfare level 2), the academic year, and the student's internship experience. The principle is that they first observe and then carry out tasks under supervision before doing them independently.
Same group
Future professionals never oversee different groups. They are always assigned to the same group. This corresponds to their level of education. This not only benefits the student but also the children, colleagues, and parents. Under certain conditions, future professionals are included in the staff-child ratio. The conditions for this are outlined in the childcare collective labour agreement.
At your location
If a future professional works at your child's location, the location manager will inform you via the parent app or the information board next to the door. Their tasks are described in the personal action plan and in the bpv-policy. If you would like to know more about this, you can always ask your location manager.
