Safety and comfort
During the holidays, parents bring and pick up their children (instead of only picking them up during school weeks). Safety and comfort are important to us. Therefore we try to give attention to each child and parent when they arrive. "Shall we sit down for a moment? I'd love to hear about your weekend." We also share practical agreements with you in advance, such as whether to take off shoes, how we handle the handover and where you can find information (verbally, in writing, on an information board).
Fun, variety, and relaxation? Check!
Every day, we ensure variety: free play, activities, indoor and outdoor play. Together with the children we create a holiday program where we work in the same way as during the school weeks, in terms of principles and pedagogical practices. All activities are diverse and, of course, not mandatory. If you do not feel like participating for a while? No problem! There is always an alternative. We also plan several moments of rest each day. This ensures balance and the relaxation that is sometimes necessary. If we go on an outing during the holidays we follow the protocol 'Activities off-site.' In other words, according to all rules and guidelines to ensure a safe trip.
"I've made new friends"
The group composition during the holidays is slightly different from afternoons during the school weeks. Sometimes, there are children from other after-school care locations or children who only come during the holidays. And some children are absent during the holidays. The same goes for the pedagogical employees. The group dynamics are different during the holidays. Everyone has to find their role and place in the group again. Of course, we take this into account. We create a safe atmosphere where children feel comfortable and want to play and work together. We do this by getting to know each other at the beginning of the day, setting group rules together and playing group games. This stimulates cooperation between the children and gaining positive experiences. "Do you want to play Monopoly with us today?" We also like to do activities in different group compositions and discuss any conflicts that arise during such activities. This stimulates the group process. "I made a new friend today, and hopefully, he'll come to after-school care more often!"
It's Time for a party
At the end of the holidays, we close this special period together. School is starting again, after-school care returns to 'normal.' With something special like a party or exhibition of the holiday theme, we help the children transition from vacation to school life. Time flies ...
