Why after-school care friends are so important
Children are often less keen on going to the after-school care if their friends are not there. Do your child’s (school) friends play at home or in the neighbourhood? Then it is only natural that your child would want to do the same! But at after-school care, things are slightly different. Here, children learn to interact with new children of different ages, with different opinions and from different backgrounds. Playing together in a safe environment, under the supervision of our childcare professionals, makes after-school care the perfect place to form and maintain friendships.
After-school care and the social development of older children
Older children in particular benefit greatly from after-school care. By doing fun activities together after school, they strengthen their friendships and make new friends. It helps them to further develop their social skills and build a network of friends. In this way, they learn to work together, resolve conflicts and find support amongst their peers. These are useful and important skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
How we encourage friendships
We tailor activities to children’s ages and interests, facilitate conversations and teach children how to deal with both differences and similarities. Older children have a special area where they can chill out, skate and play video games together with friends in a safe environment.
